This class will introduce basic ballet and tap technique and terminology to children ages 4-6.  We will introduce barre work, all five ballet positions, and basic steps for tap.

Ballet is considered to be the foundation of all disciplines of dance. Its attention to technical detail is essential for any serious dancer.  Classes consist of barre work, center floor combinations and instruction of terminology.  This class emphasizes body placement and articulation of the feet. Students must be at least 6 years old to be enrolled in Ballet.  See our Ballet Department Video.

Jazz is also a technical discipline of dance; however, jazz allows for various styles and interpretation of movement.  Classes include conditioning and stretching, instruction of jazz technique and terminology, across the floor progressions, and center floor combinations.  Students must be at least 6 years old to be enrolled in Jazz.

Tap is rhythms made with the dancer’s feet.  These rhythms can be made to complement rhythms of music or the rhythms can be danced a cappella.  Concentration is on the rhythms made with the dancer’s feet; however, the whole body is used simultaneously.  Tap is a great tool in developing coordination.  Students must be at least 6 years old to be enrolled in Tap.

Lyrical creates a story or expresses the feelings of a dancer.  Ballet, jazz or modern may be danced lyrically, but the expression of the dancer’s face and body movement is used to tell the story rather than the lyrics of a song.  Students must be at least 8 years old to be enrolled in Lyrical.

Hip Hop is also known as street dancing.  This style of dance is seen in music videos and in clubs.  Hip Hop combines sharp isolated movement with smooth continuous movement.

Contemporary Dance finds its roots in Ballet, Lyrical, Jazz, and Modern.  Contemporary dance is characterized by its versatility; it can be danced to almost any style of music, or united with other dance forms to create new styles of movement.

Students will learn the history of dance in musical theatre by learning variations from well known productions and choreographers, such as Bob Fosse and Busby Berkeley.

Do you have Broadway aspirations?  Whether your goal is to be the lead or in the chorus, this class trains singers and actors alike to work proper breath control and pitch while dancing, and tailored to the different levels of the students.  Required class for members of RCAS.  Students must be at least 8 years old.

This class will introduce the student to Ballroom and Latin patterns and techniques with a focus on International Style.

LPA Company and Professional division membership is by audition only.  Dancers practice, compete, and perform at a professional level.  A LPAC dancer must be enrolled in all disciplines of dance and compete and/or perform once a month.  Please see LPA Company for more information on the audition process and polices and procedures.  Students must be at least four years old to audition for the Petite Company or seven years old to audition for the Company.

LRT is the LaBelle Performing Arts theatre company.  Our goal is to provide the highest quality Theatre and Vocal training in order to develop strong and well-rounded performers. We will provide a safe and fun environment for the education and performance of the Theatre Arts, while also developing young performers who are well-prepared and confident on stage. In addition, we will also work to build the students’ repertoire for future auditions, any outside opportunities that may arise, and college applications.

Those wishing to join the LaBelle Repertory Theatre (LRT) will have to commit to multiple core classes as well as the LRT rehearsal schedule. As we grow, so will our aspirations and dedication to provide quality live theatre for the Pensacola area. Currently, we aim to have two performances every year. 

Tumbling for children ages 3 to 6 years.

Tumbling for for children ages 6 and up.

Students will engage in acting games, such as tongue twisters (to improve diction) or memorization and improvisational games, and participate in group or partner work.

Is a form of theatre combining songs, spoken dialogue and dance.  Each semester students will work to create an original musical production to be presented at the end of the semester.

Students will be introduced to the principles of drawing and painting, as well as the works of famous artists.  Students will also participate in the construction of sets for the end-of-the-year production.  For ages 6 and up.  See our Art Department Video below.

Private instruction is provided through the Suzuki method, a method based on the highest form of classical training.  Students are also taught from the Essential Elements series, which is used in the strings programs in the public and private school system.  See our Music Department Video below.
